Attention People near Santa Cruz, or people with cars who like to drive to Santa Cruz:
Midnightmare is schedled to play at my house THIS friday (the 12th)! Parties at my house are always AWESOME!!! This time, the party is for my friend Aubry's B-day. She invited a bunch of bands that she knows, and we're going to play too, because it's MY HOUSE, DAMNIT!!! The party will most likely be BYOB (bring your own beer) and BYOM (bring your own monster) and CYOA (choose your own adventure). Some come down and ROCK!

If you want directions, e-mail me: ilaideggsinyourhead@hotmail.com Don't send me viruses...that's just rude!

On another note, everyone should go out and get the new Inepsy album. It's SOOOO fucking awesome.

Slaughterhouse Meeting
This is copy and pasted in here from Bulletin posts JTB left on myspace.. a lot of people have been asking what's going to happen with the place so here goes:

Hi All,
so we had a meeting last night about the status of the slaughterhouse
and how to move forward regarding the space and eventual new places.
went really well, bout a dozen folks showed up. We will be having
another meeting next friday 6pm at the slaughterhouse, all are
welcome and invited and encouraged to come and participate.

1. We will be running marcus's birthday show mar 5th 7pm and we will
be locking the doors at 9pm and not letting anyone else in (including
the cops) so please spread the word and tell people to come before
9pm er they won't get in.

2. We will attempt to do shows at the slaughterhouse in the future,
an will be testing the waters over the next few months. If things go
well and we have no problems we may again resume doing regular shows
there. Josh the guy who runs the building is still down to let us
put on shows without the proper paperwork, he rules! But as a
responcible booker I can't set touring bands for a venue that I know
has been raided and might be again. If we get through shows/events
at the building over the next few months we might re develop our
confidence to resume putting on shows. But for now all shows that
were booked at the slaughterhouse are cancelled un less we decide a
particular show we want to use as one of the test shows. All
promoters should be actively persueing other venues to host the shows
they have reserved at the slaughterhouse til further notice.

3. We are actively persueing new spots to run our regular weekly
shows. We have some good possiblities. Josh has a building
somewhere in Oakland he is checking out monday. Myk Burnt Ramen has
discovered a new building he is interested in Buying er leasing in El
Cerrito. And we met last night and visited the death x excess
warehouse , right around the corner from the slaughterhouse. All the
new places are going to require much construction and TLC to get them
opperational and we will need as much helps as we can get. including
donation of constructon supplies and carpentry workers to build
stages, sound booths, dividing walls and sound proofing.
If you have a warehouse space that you would like us to run shows at
please contact me, jtbaker666@juno.com or if you want to volunteer or
donate, contact me to arrange .We will also be doing construction
stuff at the slaughterhouse in preparation for marcus's birthday and
I'll be there sunday afternoon and tuesday evening if anyone want to
stop by to help or drop off donations.

4. We are wanting to strengthen our community To do so we are going
to be writing articles explaining the differences between what we do
and what others do, so people who think we are just like any other
business will
understand that we are different and that we deserve more respect ,
involvement than other venues. We would like to keep an active
kind of dialog even without a venue so when we do get a venue we can
just jmp right into it and it won't take months and months to get it
ready and rolling. So people please dialog with me and each other
regarding your ideas for future venues and how to keep underground
while running big shows. Its hard to hide 500 peeps in a pit. The
wish list is still active and we are still needing supplies and yes
cash if thats what ya got to give. I have always said, its not the
building that matters its the people. We are what makes great shows
not a building. And also money can't buy us love, involvement, and
re directing energies our way is the best way to keep the community
strong. So if ya have an old TV er a couple sheets of plywood you
are thinking
bout just throwing out, give it to us instead. Use the energy you
would have used to throw these things away and re direct the energy
toward us Thats all we ask, if ya got some cans of soup on yer shelf
fer years cause you hate that kind o soup. Bring them cans to us.
The less money I have to spend on Food, weed, etc. the more of my
money i can spend on construction supplies and sound gear.

5. The feeling at the meeting was one of empowerment, rather than
dissappointment or depression, which could easily have been the case
with another venue getting hit by the pigs. People are ready to step
up and keep rockin and it was a very possitive and productive night.
We will be doing a weekly tour of potential venues and developing a
list of warehouse spaces where we can book shows. We would like to
eventualy develop 8 venues where we could do one show a month at each
of those spots.Therefor cutting down on the traffic that most spots
get when they have weekly shows and that way each spot will have a
better chance of staying operational longer.

Ok so this is a call to action!! Thanks for listening. email me
with questions. and talk amongst yerselves. see ya at marcus's
birthday, make sure to get there before 9pm and spread the word that
we will be closing the doors at 9pm and no one else will get in after
that time. this is our one last harrah at the slaughterhouse and
well we want everyone there. And also come to the meeting if ya can
on friday feb 27 at 6pm
much respect,
John the Baker

what happened a few weeks ago:

someone blocked in an amtrak worker and she came to the door and
asked if we knew whose van it was and if they could move it. It was
near the end of the show , i sent paul inside to make an
announcement , and within 5 minutes that van was moved and the woman
drove away. But within those 5 minutes of waiting, she had flagged
down a cop and told them she was blocked and that she saw a bunch of
bloody, scary , drunk people coming out of that door, our door.

I saw the cops pull up. sent everyone inside and thought the door
got locked. Tried to lower the big rolling door but it got stuck
just as a cop was limbo-ing under and it. He even hit his back a
little. But he got in, and asked what was going on, I said I didn't
know , that i had heard some music coming from the other side of the
building but that i was just closing up and nothing was going on
here. He asked if he could look around just to see, i said sure,
queazily. So they walked down the hallway , nothing crazy, got
closer to the end of the hallway and the doors weren't locked and
they could tell where the music was coming from. Then I walked up to
them and they said who is in charge, and I stepped up and said that I
was, and they asked me to get everyone to leave so basically so they
didn't have to. And, I am way cool with the opportunity to get my
people out, rather than letting the cops do it. So, thats what
happened.

Of course then they were relatively cool saying that we know yer
probably doing a good thing keeping kids outta trouble but that we
have to do it by the book. And for me to contact the special events
sargent to find out what thing I would need to do to throw events
like this and I took down the number and knew that we were
effectively shut down . The cops did seem to respect the way I
controlled the room and that I knew every passed out drunk person and
hooked them up with their friends to take care of them and get them
home. Even averting the ambulance call they made to bring jess
aarron to the emergency room for alcohol poisoning. But the cops
really didn't trip on the drinking and the kids, but for me, when you
are gambling with your freedom, its a good time to stop running shows
at that location. maybe one last harah. And definately other
warehouses to invade and destroy!!
Josh the manager of the slaughterhouse building said he checked out a
new building just the other day and is seriously considaring moving
operations there. death x excess is also aquiring a warehouse and is
a possablity. We will keep rocking! Its just getting harder and
harder to hide from the cops. but we are faster and stronger and
gosh darnit this is our way of life, they are just doing their
jobs. We will always find a place, away from persecution, to dance
and be free.

we had a great stint of shows at the slaughterhouse 12, if we get one
last bash in, that will be an even bakers dozen.
peace,
John the Baker

2:41 am - Kids Today

squidprofit
This is a post for anyone that was part of the Novato-Core scene, when it actually was a scene. I thought that perhaps with all the information and the advances in science that kids might be smarter and more developed as people, it would appear that I was wrong.

case study PXRQ-11

There you have it, I think this says it all. Or, at least it says,"Pay attention to me, I rule thi-i-i-i-s much!"

This is a message for the lame guy I met at a party in the Mission on Saturday. The one who said, “yeah, I went to Novato one time. It really sucked. It’s just a bunch of rich kids who sit in their mommy's and daddy's mansions and steal and drink their alcohol. It was lame.” It’s not often I take offense to close minded people because I feel sorry for them. But I thought it was pretty lame to make a generalized statement about a place you have only been to once. That would be like me saying Disneyland really sucked because the only time I went to it in the last fifteen years both Pirates of the Caribbean and Benny the Cab were closed down. But you know what? My brain capacity handled those facts and I forgave Disneyland. So a big fuck you to this guy. If I see this jerk again and recognize him, I hope I have the good enough sense to punch him in the fucking nose, or at least bring him back here and show him how it’s really done so he can get his facts straight, bitch. kisses.

We Followed Tigers' MP3's are now available on MP3.com.

Download three of their five songs at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/633/we_followed_tigers.html

I can't describe what they sound like, so you'll have to let curiosity get to you and go decide for yourself.

We Followed Tigers is an Ex-Novato band that formed and disbanded in a few short months. The three musicians involved came together shortly before Summer 2003, and had to go seperate ways when they all left for College this past month.

However, they were gracious enough to record a Five song EP before they all kicked rocks out of this town, and they want you all to hear it. Although their mp3's are not currently available for download, you can expect to be able to get their entire CD for free soon at www.mp3.com/wefollowedtigers.html.

Stay tuned to http://wefollowedtigers.tripod.com for imformation. And I'll come back and update to let you all know when the songs will be available.

It's good to see that this page is still getting some use. I would like to think that novato-core isn't dead, maybe just taking a long nap. It could return again someday as something else, but with the same idea of making your own fun. I learned that if you're bored and don't like things, you can change them. Sometimes it takes a whole lot of effort, but it can be done. and it can also be a lot of fun in the process. everyone has a little piece of it; if you're being creative, having fun and making a difference.

keep posting about shows, ideas for shows, or fun places to have them. and if you're reading this right now, don't forget to say hello.

love, Ben
